Floor Board High Beam Switch

Us automakers switched from the floor mounted high beam switch to the one on the steering column as a move to emulate the more expensive luxury cars coming out of europe where the trend started. the move took many years as they had to wait for a vehicle redesign to implement them.. I have been repairing my own cars since 1973 and let me tell you that i used to hate changing out floorboard high beam switches. they used to go bad because the underside of the switch was exposed to the elements constantly...now on the column they just break because they are plastic and still a nasty job to replace.....anyway, life goes on!. Floor high beam switch i'm well on my way working on my car little bits at a time. one of the things i am most confused with is, is how does the late 70's gm floor mounted headlight high beam switch get wired so it works properly..

Find great deals on ebay for high beam floor switch. shop with confidence.. Test 3: high beam headlight output you've reached this point because you have confirmed that the low-high beam headlight dimmer switch is getting the headlight switch input signal (test 1) and that it's also returning a low beam signal to the low beam headlights (test 2).. Hi. reminiscing about our old '77 plymouth volare wagon, i recalled that it had a floor mounted foot switch to activate the high beams. i believe this was fairly common at the time, but it seems like a really odd engineering decision, compared with the dash or stalk mounted switches that are common now..
