Gelcoat A Boat Cost

Much more then the boat is worth - for sure! i built boats and refurbished more then my fair share of them over 40 something years. . . gelcoat is the worst stuff in the world to remove and replace. . . to have this done at a shop will cost you a small fortune. as a 'ballpark' estimate, it will cost you $1,000 a foot.. For current boats, your dealer might be able to supply matching gelcoat. but due to weathering on your boat, it may not match. there are kits from companies such as evercoat with pigments to add to the resin for a match. if you have a sample, you can match a gallon of gelcoat from rayplex composites (fibreglass.com).. Unless the boat is a quality make, and the hardware is a steal for the price you're going to pay for the entire boat, look for a different project. as an example, for a couple g's more than the 10k quote to redo a 21rc (realistic quote for a properly done quality job) you could be into one of danny's new hulls..
